Acupuncture is used within physiotherapy as an integrated approach to the management of pain and inflammation. It works by stimulating the body’s own healing chemicals in order to facilitate recovery and rehabilitation.

There is a sound background of evidence to show that acupuncture can reduce pain by stimulating body’s central nervous system. Natural pain-relieving chemicals are released, for example melatonin to promote sleep and serotonin to promote well-being. These promote the body’s healing process, complimenting other physiotherapy techniques such as exercise and other manual techniques.

We offer acupuncture within our treatments to reat a variety of symptoms including joint pain and muscles stiffness. It can be used to manage these symptoms in a variety of conditions including osteoporosis, parkinson’s disease and MS. As well as pain relief clients often report an improvement in sleep pattern and a reduction of stress levels.
